It is a mere three days before I depart to London England, and even though the trip is so close, I am still in slight disbelief that London will soon be the home of myself and my fellow GLS classmates. A bit about me- my name is Garrett Holt. I am currently a sophomore in the GLS program planning to major in Finance with a minor in History. Knoxville has been my home my entire life, and going to the University of Tennessee has only deepened my love for the city. In fact, when people ask where I am from, I simply point west and say, "I went to school two miles that way and live 4 miles past that." I like to consider myself an easy going kind of guy, but at the same time, I am driven to succeed in all that I apply myself to. I enjoy health and fitness, spending time with friends, playing the saxophone, and continuing to learn new things about the people and places around me.
With London finally upon us, I am having a wide range of feelings. Ever since my senior year of high school I have aspired to join GLS and study abroad in London, and the fact that it is just a few days away is mind boggling to some extent. If I had to pinpoint a single goal I have for this trip it would be to have an experience. What I mean by that is I want to dive head first into the world I am going to soon be immersed in and grow and learn from my time in Europe. I hope to truly delve into London and English culture while also traveling across Europe to see parts of the world I have only ever heard or read about. To say I am excited is an understatement. I will continue to blog and write updates about experiences abroad over the course of the next few months. So, stay tuned!
